Władysław Winiecki (1941-2008) was a graphic artist who mastered the printing method of lithography. He graduated from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts and became a teacher and professor at the Academy’s graphic arts department for many years. The artist participated in numerous Polish and international exhibitions where his works often won awards. Władysław Winiecki’s most interesting and representative works from different periods of his artistic life are on display.

The exhibition is the result of Andrzej Gibała’s expeditions into the wilderness. He lives in Zakopane, he is a forester by training whose passions are botany and photography. Macro-scale photographs of rare and lesser-known plants will be on display. They feature not only the beauty of nature but also the diversity and extraordinary shapes of tiny forms which cannot be seen with the naked eye.

PIOTR KWIT. PAINTINGS AND SCULPTURES

An exhibition of paintings and sculptures by Piotr Kwit (1929-2002), a folk artist from the village of Zalesie, near Limanowa in southern Poland. He sculpted birds, and also saints, historical personalities and classical music composers. He painted landscapes of the Gorce and the Beskid Wyspowy hills and of his home village as well as birds and religious scenes. On display are Kwit’s works on loan from the District Museum in Nowy Sącz – oil paintings on hardboard and sculptures from between 1972 and 1997.

The post-war history of Zakopane is largely unacknowledged. Meanwhile, the last witnesses are passing away, and together with them the unique chance to document the town's recent history. The exhibition ZAKOPIAŃCZYCY (THE PEOPLE OF ZAKOPANE) aims to partly fill this gap by presenting the significant personalities who were active in Zakopane between 1945 and 2010.

The exhibition presents the output of the artistic community and artists who were temporarily connected with Zakopane at a time when the village was Poland’s leading centre of artistic excellence. All of them drew inspiration from the Tatra mountains and the Tatra Highlander culture. The display is presented in the interiors of Oksza villa, designed by Stanisław Witkiewicz in 1894 in the Zakopane Style, which was restored by the Tatra Museum in 2010.

Part of an exhibition series which presents the works of contemporary local artists. It is a tribute to Eugeniusz Rodzik (1933-2010), a longtime-employee of the Tatra Museum, art conservator and artist, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. On display are the most interesting conservation works done by Eugeniusz Rodzik in the Tatra Museum, as well as his works of art from his family collection.

THE TATRA MUSEUM’S LATEST NATURAL HISTORY AND ETHNOGRAPHC AQUISITIONS

The exhibition shows the latest exhibits acquired by the natural history and ethnographic departments of the Tatra Museum. The natural history department’s collections increased in 2011 with unique geological specimens and paleontological finds. They were offered by two outstandinggeological experts, Professors Jerzy Lefeld and Andrzej Gaździcki, who for many years cooperated with the Tatra Museum, the young, world-renowned paleontologist Grzegorz Niedźwiedzki and a geologist closely linked with Zakopane, Eligiusz Balcerzak. The ethnographic department presents the most interesting ethnographic exhibits, which came into its collections in the years 2007-2011. These are mainly regional costumes and folk art from Podhale and of the Hutsul people.

WŁADYSŁAW TREBUNIA TUTKA. RETROSPECTIVE

An exhibition from a series to showcase the artistic work of Zakopane's contemporary artists. Władysław Trebunia "Tutka" (born in 1942) graduated from the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts' Textile Department, but he has worked in different techniques (textile design, painting, stained-glass, glass, pastel, oil and gouache paintings). The local Podhale tradition and folklore constitute the main subjects of the artist's works. The exhibition features works chosen from various periods of his artistic activity, made in different techniques, including drawings, religious paintings, textiles and stained-glass designs.

Art at the Foot of Giewont in the Years 1880-1939” at Oksza villa, where his pastels, drawings and photographs are on display, we present at the Art Gallery in Koziniec the exhibition WITKACY. PSYCHOHOLISM which has been prepared by the Bunkier Sztuki Contemporary Art Gallery in Kraków. Its curators are Maria Anna Potocka and Stefan Okołowicz.

Władysław Hasior (1928-1999) is widely known as one of Poland's leading sculptors of the post-war era, who lived in Zakopane for most of working life. He was the author of many significant monuments, "banners", objects and installations, assemblages, collages and outdoor events. However, little is known about his passion for photography. It was an art form, which accompanied him throughout his creative life.

Jolanta Flach is a Zakopane journalist who graduated in environmental engineering but is an icon writer by vocation. She produces icons according to the Eastern canon, using traditional techniques. The subject-matter of her icons draws inspiration from Byzantine iconography.

The display of Oriental carpets and textiles collected by Włodzimierz and Jerzy Kulczycki between 1906 and 1965. The collection was donated to the Tatra Museum by Anna Piotrowicz-Kulczycka, Jerzy Kulczycki's widow, and has been periodically shown since 1981 at the Gallery of Art in Koziniec, dedicated to the Kulczyckis.

The exhibition displays chosen Tatra and Podhale landscapes from the collection of the artist's granddaughter.
