ALL IN BLUE: LINEN FOLK PRINTS IN THE TATRA REGION

The exhibition All in Blue: Linen Folk Prints in the Tatra Region is on at the Art Gallery in Koziniec between December 17, 2008 and March 1, 2009. On display are hand-dyed pieces of cloth, wooden printing blocks and historical information about local dyers from the 19th century.


  

Young Poland. Words - Images - Spaces

The exhibition has been prepared by the Museum of Literature in Warsaw and is presented in a new format at the Tatra Museum in Zakopane. It pays tribute to Stanisław Wyspiański (1869-1907), the greatest artist of the "Young Poland" movement. This exhibition presents the "Young Poland" movement through the eyes of Wyspiański to reveal the multitude of themes, moods and the motifs of this artistically rich period.


  

JULIUSZ ZBOROWSKI 'SAMUEL' (1888–1965)

The exhibition is devoted to Juliusz Zborowski (1888-1965), called 'Samuel', to celebrate the 120th anniversary of his birth. Zborowski was the first director of the Tatra Museum between 1922 and 1965.

The exhibition Paper, Stroke, Smudge at the Władysław Hasior Gallery in Zakopane showcases the drawings of two contemporary artists Zofia Broniek and Magdalena Kraszewska.


  

Bats and Other Tatra Fantasies. The Paintings of Irena Trzetrzewińska

Around 40 oil paintings of contemporary Krakow artist Irena Trzetrzewińska are on display at the Władysław Hasior Gallery. They reflect the artist's fascination for the Tatra mountains and legends of the region.


  

The History of Zakopane's Former Lace-making School

The exhibition dedicated to the Lace-making School in Zakopane is open from April 26 to June 8 at the Museum of Zakopane Style at "Koliba" villa. The exhibition shows bobbin laces from the end of the 19th century until the 1990s and also the celebrated teachers and history of the Zakopane Lace-making School, which opened in 1883.


  

The Sculptures of Zygmunt Piekacz: 45 Years of His Creations

The Tatra Museum presents the exhibition The Sculptures of Zygmunt Piekacz. 45 Years of His Creations from April 19 to May 30. Zygmunt Piekacz, the contemporary Zakopane sculptor, is celebrating 45 years of his work. His sculptures and bas-reliefs are on display at the Władysław Hasior Gallery, Zakopane, ul. Jagiellońska 18 b.


  

I Live to Paint. The Glass Paintings of Ewelina Pęksowa. 40 Years of Her Creations

This retrospective exhibition is the Tatra Museum's celebration of 40 years of Ewelina Pęksowa's creations. It showcases more than 270 of her works of art; mostly glass paintings, but also icons and ceramics.

This exhibition presents the most precious and interesting 2007 acquisitions of the Tatra Museum art department. They were made possible thanks to the grants awarded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and by the Marshal Office of the Małopolska Region, southern Poland. The Museum's art department collection were enriched with 108 works of art, among which 91 were purchased.


  

Bronisław Czech (1908-1944) – a Man of Many Passions

The Tatra Museum, wishing to mark the centenary of Bronisław Czech's birth, presents an exhibition dedicated to this outstanding Polish sportsman and war hero.


  

JUBILEE EXHIBITION OF WŁADYSŁAW WALCZAK BANIECKI'S GLASS PAINTINGS

 

The exhibition "Władysław Walczak Baniecki. Glass Paintings" is open at the Władysław Hasior Gallery (a branch of the Tatra Museum), Zakopane, ul. Jagiellońska 18b from January 13 to March 9. It celebrates the 40 years of work of Zakopane’s well-known artist Władysław Walczak Baniecki. The event is held under the patronage of Mr Janusz Majcher, Mayor of Zakopane. Over 50 glass paintings, made between 1967 and 2007, are on display.


  

EXHIBITION "MARIUSZ ZARUSKI - MAN OF TWO ELEMENTS"

 

The exhibition "Mariusz Zaruski - a Man of Two Elements" opened December 19 at the Art Gallery in Koziniec (a branch of the Tatra Museum), Zakopane, ul. Koziniec 8. It is dedicated to Mariusz Zaruski (1867-1941), founder of the Tatra Mountain Rescue Service (TOPR) in 1909, alpinist and skier, General of the Polish army and captain of training sailing ships of the Polish Scout Organisation. The exhibition is open until March 9.
