THE TATRA MUSEUM’S LATEST NATURAL HISTORY AND ETHNOGRAPHC AQUISITIONS

January 18 – April 7, 2012

The Museum of the Zakopane Style at Koliba villa
Zakopane, ul. Kościeliska 18

The exhibition shows the latest exhibits acquired by the natural history and ethnographic departments of the Tatra Museum. The natural history department’s collections increased in 2011 with unique geological specimens and paleontological finds. They were offered by two outstandinggeological experts, Professors Jerzy Lefeld and Andrzej Gaździcki, who for many years cooperated with the Tatra Museum, the young, world-renowned paleontologist Grzegorz Niedźwiedzki and a geologist closely linked with Zakopane, Eligiusz Balcerzak. The ethnographic department presents the most interesting ethnographic exhibits, which came into its collections in the years 2007-2011. These are mainly regional costumes and folk art from Podhale and of the Hutsul people.
